NORFOLK, Va. - Many local businesses are gearing up for Small Business Saturday.
News 3 stopped by Decorum Furniture in the Ghent area of Norfolk Friday.
Staff said they will have sales on several brands.
If you're not looking for furniture, everything in their gift shop is 10 percent off.
So how are they attracting customers tomorrow?
Social media and fresh new discounts.
Staff at French Twist Boutique in Virginia Beach are eager to cash in, hoping Saturday will be their biggest sales day of the year.
"For every $250 purchase or a purchase of a coat, they get a free scarf from Italy," Annie Riechhoff, the owner of the store, said.
Staff at both stores say their goal isn't just about the final sale, but building a relationship with new and old customers.
"I think people like that localization, Shawn Giffey, with Decorum Furniture, said. "I think when you walk in the door and we remember you from five years ago. People really do respond to that."
Customers living in the area are split about Small Business Saturday.
Some say it will be too many people in the shops, others say it helps the local economy.
If you can't make it to the stores on Saturday, both say their sales will run until Sunday evening.
