BLACKSBURG, Va. - With the ACC Coastal division locked up, Virginia Tech is trying to add the cherry on top to the regular season by
defeating UVA for the 13th straight time.
The Commonwealth Cup has been in the possession of the Hokies (8-3) for 4,381 days. This is the longest streak ever in the series.
The Cavaliers (2-9) are on a different path, trying to set a winning precedent for the future. “I don’t think I need to address anything other than how to help them play best this game,” head coach Bronco Mendenhall says. “They already know the history. They are living the history, as is the community and the institution and the UVA fans.”
Quarterback Jerod Evans knows about rivalries, but he's not familiar with this one, so he's not taking anything for granted. "Being in-state, you get the bragging rights. You hear it all the time. The players don’t have to tell me about that," says Evans. "They have nothing to lose."
