SUFFOLK, Va. – One person has died and another is suffering serious injuries after an accident on Friday evening.
Suffolk Police say they are investigating a two-vehicle accident that occurred around 6 p.m.
The incident happened on westbound Route 58/Portsmouth Blvd., just before the Wilroy Road exit.
The incident involved a tractor-trailer and a vehicle.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle had to be extricated by Suffolk Fire & Rescue.
Police say 77-year-old Jean Mitchell and her husband 81-year-old Robert Mitchell died from their injuries.
Both lanes are currently closed and traffic is being rerouted to Portsmouth Blvd., towards downtown Suffolk.
