SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. – A 60-year-old Hopewell man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Sussex County on Tuesday night, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred around 8:55 p.m. on eastbound Route 40, east of Route 652.
Police say 60-year-old Henry Edward Allen was driving a 2003 Ford Fusion eastbound on Route 60 and was attempting to exit at Wakefield when he lost control, ran off the road and into a ditch.
Allen died at the scene.
Police say alcohol was not a contributing factor, but Allen was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
