CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Authorities from around Hampton Roads will conduct an active shooter exercise on Thursday morning.
Naval Support Activity (NSA) Hampton Roads-Northwest Annex will be conducting the exercise at the installation beginning at 9 a.m.
Participants include NSA Hampton Roads and Naval Station Norfolk Security Forces, the Chesapeake Police Department, and Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Rescue.
The exercise will focus on quick reaction and scenario-driven evolution.
The goal is to train first responders and watch standers on the rapid response to an active shooter situation.
Residents may notice emergency vehicles including ambulances, fire trucks, and patrol cars on the installation during that time.
