NORFOLK, VA. – A Norfolk homeowner wants answers after her Bayview home was burglarized twice in six months.
Meghan Decker says this week someone broke into her garage - stealing around $4,000 worth of tools.
“It’s been rough and wondering how many times I have to go through this," Decker told News 3.
She says the person took a DEWALT Chop, an Echo gas powered trimmer, a Stihl blower, 2 chainsaws, and several other tools.
“The first time they went through my underwear drawer, the second time it just felt like it," Decker said.
While on a trip to Guam a few months ago, Decker told News 3, someone broke into her house and stole $13,000 worth of items including jewelry.
However, she isn’t alone.
“I have caught a couple trying to get to my car and all but before I can get to them, they took off," homeowner Robery Guynn said. “It doesn’t scare me at all but I hate to see it.”
According to the Norfolk Police Department’s Crimeview Community map, there have been eight burglaries in the area in the past month.
Police say always keep your doors and windows locked. They say also photograph important and expensive belongings.
