First Warning Forecast: Bitterly cold weather is on the way

and last updated

Bitterly cold weather is on the way…Get ready for some dangerously cold weather to settle into the area over the next couple of days.

As we move through our Wednesday, most of the day will be dry under partly sunny skies. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Late in the day, a strong cold front will sweep across the area from the northwest, ushering in some of the coldest air we’ve seen this season. In fact, highs will drop into the upper 30s by Thursday afternoon under mostly sunny skies. It will feel colder because of gusty northerly winds.  By early Friday morning, temperatures will dip into the teens! Yes, the teens! But because of the winds, it will feel like the single digits for some communities, so take your precautions. Don’t forget to protect your plants and pets. By Friday afternoon, we’ll see highs only in the low to mid 30s. At least we’ll see some sun, but the sun will do little to warm us up.

This weekend, we’re expecting wet weather. In fact, we could see some sleet or freezing rain early Saturday before it transitions to rain. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s this weekend.

This Afternoon: Mix of Clouds and Sun. Breezy. Highs in the upper 40s. Winds: N 5-15 mph.

Tonight: Partly to Mostly Cloudy. Low temperatures in the low 30s. Winds: W 5-10 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly Sunny and Windy. Highs in the upper 30s. Winds NW 15-25 mph, gusts to 30 mph.
