18-year-old dies, three others injured in Accomack County crash

ACCOMACK, Co., Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that killed one and injured three on Friday.

The crash happened at 10:40 p.m. on December 16 on Atlantic Road near Bowden Lane.

Police say a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling south on Atlantic Road. As it came through a curve, the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, spun around and struck a tree head-on.

The driver was a 17-year-old male and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The teen was not wearing a seatbelt.

Backseat passenger, 18-year-old Shyasia Davis died at the scene. Police say she was wearing a seatbelt.

A second backseat passenger, a 17-year-old male, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Front seat passenger, 18-year-old Krista Everett was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was also wearing a seatbelt.

Speed is being investigated as a factor in the crash, which remains under police investigation.
