Task force intercepts pills and tobacco from entering Dare Co. Detention Center

DARE Co., N.C. – A narcotics task force stopped contraband from getting into the Dare County Detention Center on Monday.

Police say the Task Force received information about people trying to smuggle prescription meds and tobacco into the detention center.

The team identified the individuals trying to carry out the operation through surveillance.

A traffic stop was conducted and an amount of Oxycodone was located and seized.

The investigation led the Task Force to two individuals who were in custody waiting for the contraband.

The two people in custody were 24-year old Grant Jacob Possich and 31-year-old Nicklas Lynn Prevatte.

Possich and Prevatte were charged with Felony Conspire to Sell/Deliver Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone Hydrochloride 30 mg) and Schedule IV (Alprazolam) (Xanax).

23-year-old Haleigh Carolyn Spalding and 33-year-old Meredith Corrine Harris were arrested for trying to smuggle the items in.

Spalding was charged with Felony Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Oxycodone Hydrochloride 30 mg) and Schedule IV (Alprazolam) (Xanax).

Harris was charged with Felony Possession with intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone Hydrochloride 30 mg) and Schedule IV (Alprazolam) (Xanax).
