Chesapeake firefighters battle house fire in Greenbrier section of city

CHESAPEAKE, Va – Chesapeake firefighters were on scene of a house fire in the Greenbrier section of the city New Year’s Eve.

According to the Chesapeake Fire Department, firefighters were called to the 800 block of Copper Stone Circle at 7:30 p.m.

Crews found a two-story single family home with smoke and flames coming from the garage area and second-floor.

The fire was declared under control at 8:01 p.m.

According to firefighters, the fire caused significant damage to the home and two cars in the garage area total loss.

Three people who lived in the home were not injured, nor were any firefighters.

The residents have made their own lodging arrangements while the home is repaired.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
