HAMPTON, Va. - One person died and another person is injured following a shooting in Hampton.

It happened Friday afternoon on 52nd Street just off of Aberdeen Road.

The two victims have been identified by police as 18-year-old Damoni Daishawn Sawyer and 19-year-old Ryan Ray Taybron.

Both victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital Sawyer died as a result of his injury.

A woman who works at a nearby business says she saw three people fixing a car's bumper this afternoon. Then, she saw a car speed down the street. Next, she heard around five gunshots and then saw two people rolling around on the ground. The third person didn't appear to be hurt.

Medics rushed two men to the hospital, where one of them died. The other is expected to survive.

The shooting happened in an industrial park, where several people were working. "That's pretty close to here," said Daniel McCoy, who works nearby. "That's pretty odd."

Police said when they got to the scene both victims, already known to police, were uncooperative with investigative efforts and there were inconsistencies with their versions of how the incident occurred.

Authorities have not released suspect information or a motive at this time, but say it doesn't appear to be random.
