GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. – One person is dead following a crash in Gloucester County.

The crash happened around 1:23 p.m. at the intersection of Route 17 and Powhatan Drive.

Virginia State Police say 91-year-old Clara Stafford was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on Route 17 approaching the traffic signal at the intersection of Powhatan Drive.

Stafford disregarded the traffic signal and hit the left side of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck towing a large trailer with lawn care equipment on it.

The crash caused the Chevrolet Silverado and trailer to jack knife in the center of the intersection.

The F-150 came to a rest against the left side of the trailer.

Stafford was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, where she was pronounced deceased.

Virginia State Police have not released the identity of the deceased.
