HAMPTON, Va. - As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, power outages are affecting approximately 4,300 Dominion Energy customers across Hampton Roads.

An earlier outage in Hampton knocked out power to about 2,000 customers. That outage was restored before 9 a.m. By Tuesday afternoon, under 100 people were without power.

In Chesapeake, power has been restored to about 3,700 customers who experienced and outage earlier in the day.

The outage was in the Great Bridge area of the city and was also related to the storm, according to Dominion.

Dominion says they believe the rain weighed down overgrown trees that were hanging over the power lines. The trees have since been trimmed back.

According to Dominion, an estimated 13,718 customers have been affected by the storm. They have had about 260 work locations with nearly 220 locations restored.
