PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Officers with the Portsmouth Police Department are investigating after a man has been seriously injured in a shooting in Portsmouth Tuesday evening.
Dispatchers received the call requesting medical assistance to the 2700 block of High Street at 7:19 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Medics transported the victim to a local hospital with what is said to be life threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the shooting occurred in the 11 block of Virginia Avenue. The investigation remains ongoing.
