Portsmouth Police investigating Family Dollar armed robbery

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department's Major Crimes Unit are investigating an armed robbery that happened at the Family Dollar at 3400 George Washington Highway Wednesday night.

Dispatchers received the call shortly before 10 p.m. Detectives say the suspects entered the business with their faces covered and displaying handguns. The suspects approached the employees and demanded money. The employees complied with the suspects' demands and the suspects fled the location on foot.

No one was injured during the incident.

The first suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie, light-colored jeans and dark colored shoes. The second suspect was last seen wearing all dark clothing, dark-colored shoes and light-colored gloves. Both had their faces covered.
