Norfolk Police respond to crash, find man suffering from gunshot wound

NORFOLK, Va. – Officers with the Norfolk Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash in the 700 block of E. Little Creek Road Thursday night and found that a man had been shot.

Dispatchers received the call around 9:35 p.m.

When police and medics arrived at the scene, they found the victim inside the car suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Patrick M. Cochrane.

After a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that Cochrane was shot in the 7900 block of Orchid Avenue.
