Tropical Depression #3 has strengthened off the coast of North Carolina and now named Tropical Storm Chris.
Tropical Depression Three was upgraded to Tropical Storm Chris early Sunday morning around 5 p.m. by the National Hurricane Center.
Chris is located a few hundred miles south of North Carolina Outer Banks and has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.
The tropical storm is expected to meander off the Carolina coast for a couple of days then move northeast by Wednesday.
