PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Police in Portsmouth are investigating a shooting that killed one man on Monday.
Officials say the shooting happened in the 10 block of Park Manor Road and that the call for the shooting came into dispatch around 7 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 24-year-old Derrick Parker of Portsmouth suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Medics arrived and transported Parker to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Parker died later Monday afternoon.
In response to recent gun violence in the city, police say there are three R.E.S.E.T. Walks scheduled for Tuesday afternoon:
- 2 p.m. – 15 Park Manor Road for Parker’s homicide in the 10 block of Park Manor Road
- 3 p.m. – 3600 block of Bart Street for three people who were found dead in a home Monday morning
- 4 p.m. – 1119 Mt. Vernon Avenue for a shooting at the London Oaks apartment complex that left one man dead and three people injured Saturday morning
