Police: 19-year-old man injured in Hampton drive-by shooting

HAMPTON, Va. – A 19-year-old man was injured in a shooting in the first block of Jordan Drive Thursday morning, according to the Hampton Police Department.

Just before noon, dispatchers received a call in reference to a shooting in the area. Officers arrived at the scene to find the man suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Police say the man’s injuries are non-life threatening, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in the yard of a home when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.
