CHESAPEAKE, Va. – A family of three, one child and two adults, have been displaced from their home after a fire took place Saturday evening.
Chesapeake firefighters were called to the scene in the Pleasant Grove section of the city at 3:10 p.m., after a Chesapeake Deputy Fire Marshal, who lives in the area, noticed the smoke.
Officials arrived minutes after the call to find a working fire in a rear bedroom. The home sustained significant damage and will not be immediately reoccupied, reports say.
All three family members were away at the time of the fire. Red Cross will be assisting the homeowners and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
