BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Taveion Hollingsworth matched his season high with 23 points, making a basket and three free throws in the final 11 seconds, to rally Western Kentucky to a 71-69 victory over Old Dominion on Thursday night.
Hollingsworth made two foul shots with 11 seconds left to pull the Hilltoppers (11-6, 4-1 Conference USA) within 69-68. On the Monarchs’ ensuing possession, Hollingsworth came up with a steal and turned it into a three-point play with 3 seconds left to cap the victory.
Josh Anderson had 13 points for WKU, which got double-figure scoring from all five starters. Carson Williams tallied 12 points and eight boards, while Jordan Rawls scored 11. Jared Savage finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
Jason Wade topped Old Dominion (6-11, 2-2) with a career-high 22 points, while Malik Curry scored 20. The pair made 20 of 35 shots from the floor, while the rest of the Monarchs hit just 8 of 31. Xavier Green scored 11 but hit just 3 of 16 shots, including 1 of 7 from distance.
