Leondra Head came to News 3 as a reporter in April 2021. She’s glad to be back in the Hampton Roads area, where she attended Hampton University. Currently, Leondra covers breaking news, crime and Positively Hampton Roads stories. Leondra also heavily covered the 2022 Virginia gubernatorial race.

Before working for News 3, Leondra was a morning anchor and reporter for CBS19 in Charlottesville. She enjoys covering breaking news, crime and entertainment.

Before working in local news, she was a freelance booking producer at MSNBC where she worked on the 11th Hour with Brian Williams. Leondra frequently booked politicians and political commentators to appear on the show.

Leondra is a 2018 Hampton University graduate and credits her journalism expertise and knowledge to several internships and fellowships while she was an undergraduate. She interned at Good Morning America, MSNBC and here at WTKR News 3. As a journalist, she finds it vital to provide credible and accurate information to public.

Leondra’s most memorable internship experience was interning at Good Morning America where she produced stories for GMA’s weekend edition and wrote lifestyle articles for GMA’s website. Her favorite all-time GMA moment was interviewing her role model, Robin Roberts.

Leondra fell in love with journalism at an early age and enjoys telling compelling stories.

Born and raised in Newnan, Georgia, Leondra considers herself a true Georgia Peach. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and enjoys playing tennis and traveling to new places in her spare time.
