NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Several local organizations have been gifted thousands to support their community through one local nonprofit.

The Board of Community Knights, Inc., recently announced this cycle's GIFT program grant awards. Their total grant pool this cycle was $24,000, which was presented to 23 applicants at Community Knights' open house on August 11.

The nonprofit is able to give away these grants through their CK Bingo nights that they host every Wednesday and Sunday.

Community Knights is so very grateful to the amazing members of the community who support as volunteers and choose to help continue to invest in our public schools and local non-profits. Community service and engagement is one of the cornerstones of our GIFT program.

It is because of a volunteer, who donates their time once a week, that 9 Fatherless Peninsula Youth will enjoy a Camping trip, mentorship, and a rafting experience with Today Jesus Outreach [facebook.com]. It is because of a volunteer, who decides to regularly work to support their community, 500 families in need and the homeless will be supported by The Heart of Giving, Inc [facebook.com] now that they have the transportation and warehouse materials to better serve them.

It is because of a monthly volunteer that 500 Peninsula residents will benefit from Kecoughtan High School [facebook.com] - Culinary cooking club treats, and the students will learn not only how to cook but also aspects of running a business. It is because of a volunteer, who believes in community service, that these and so many additional grants listed below will have an impact on the Virginia Peninsula.
