This weekend, your focus will shift from low rain chances early on to much cooler air during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will steadily fall Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A Freeze Watch has been issued for Saturday night - Sunday morning for the counties of Southampton, Sussex and Northampton (NC) along with the city of Franklin, due to the possibility of sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30° that could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
Meanwhile, scattered showers tonight with gusty winds upwards 30 mph and much cooler by daybreak as temperatures plummet to the 40s.
A sunny Saturday will transition into a clear and cold night with light winds. The setup will be conducive for frost. It's a good idea to take steps to protect any sensitive plants from a late season possible frost or freeze. Inland Virginia and North Carolina could drop into the mid 30s Sunday morning.
