HAMPTON, Va. - One man is dead and another left with non-life-threatening injuries following an overnight homicide in Hampton.
According to police, the homicide happened in the 1100 block of W. Mercury Boulevard, near the Millers gas station. Dispatch received a call for the incident at 1:34 a.m.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a man, identified as 20-year-old Hector Martinez Jr., who had been struck by gunfire. He was pronounced dead on scene.
The surviving victim, an adult man, was taken to a local hospital.
Police say an altercation at the gas station led to shots being fired. The incident remains under investigation.
