SUFFOLK, Va. — One person has been displaced after a small kitchen fire at the Heritage Acres Apartments Thursday night.
Units with Suffolk Fire & Rescue arrived at the apartment complex, located in the 1000 block of Nansemond Parkway, at 5:45 p.m.
The first arriving units found light smoke coming from a downstairs apartment of the two-story building. Firefighters entered the building and found a small fire in the kitchen of one of the apartments. The fire was contained to the kitchen area of that apartment.
One adult was displaced due to fire and water damage to the downstairs apartment. Ten occupants were evacuated.
No injuries were reported during this incident.
The fire was called under control at 5:53 p.m.
The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
