BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. - Bertie County Sheriff's is investigating a homicide after a 16-year-old was found dead from a shooting on Friday.
Sheriff Holley says around 1:00 p.m., Bertie County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to shots being fired in the area of Lake Drive in Lewiston.
Deputies and EMS crews arrived on the scene and found a 16-year-old female dead.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation with the Homicide Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
