18-year-old man killed in York County multi-vehicle crash

YORK Co., Va. - An 18-year-old man was killed in a crash in York County Friday afternoon, according to the Virginia State Police.

Officers were called to Route 137, east of Airport Road, at approximately 4:52 p.m. for a two-vehice crash.

When they arrived, they learned 18-year-old West Point man Eric M. May II was attempting to pass another vehicle in the westbound lane when he sideswiped a vehicle traveling east and lost control of his vehicle. May then ran off the road and struck a tree.

May was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died due to his injuries.

No charges have been announced, and the crash's cause remains under investigation.
