SUSSEX Co, Va. - The Virginia State Police is investigating after a 19-year-old woman was killed in a Sussex County crash Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday, troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-95 near the 27 mile marker.
A 2012 Nissan Altima was traveling south when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a fence, then overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road. It then struck an embankment and several trees, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver, Nayeli G. Ventura Martinez, 19, of Elizabethtown, N.C., died at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
