2 dogs die from injuries after being rescued from Suffolk house fire; Family of three displaced

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire that left two dogs dead Monday afternoon.

Officials say crews are currently on the scene of a house fire in the 200 block of Widgeon Court in the Burnetts Mill Neighborhood after a call came in at 1:59 p.m.

The fire was marked under control at 2:26 p.m.

Crews rescued two dogs from the home, but officials say they passed away as a result of their injuries.

There were no other injuries reported and there was no one else in the home at the time of the fire.

The residents of the home, 2 adults and 1 child, are displaced as a result of the fire. They will be assisted by family in the area.

The cause of the fire remains investigation.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
