HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured early Sunday morning.
Police responded to the shooting around 12:30 a.m., in the in the 400 block of Fox Hill Road.
One man was found shot at the scene and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
While officers were investigating, a second man walked into a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. According to police, it was determined that he was involved in the same incident, and his injuries were found to be non-life-threatening.
According to the investigation, an altercation took place between two groups of individuals at a local business. The altercation continued outside, and shots were exchanged between the individuals who were in separate vehicles.
23-year-old William Hackworth was arrested in connection to this incident. Police say he has been charged with two counts of maiming, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, one count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, and one count of willfully discharging a firearm in public.
A second man is in custody in reference to this incident and his charges are still pending. Police are not searching for any additional suspects.
