2 men injured following apartment complex shooting in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. - Two men were injured in a shooting in the first block of Spanish Trail Sunday night.

At approximately 10:41 p.m., dispatch received a call in reference to a burglary that was occurring in the area of the first block of Spanish Trail.

Officers arrived in the area of the 100 block of Spanish Trail and heard gunshots coming from within the apartment complex. As officers were checking the area, a man with laceration injuries drove to their location and said that he had been injured as a result of his vehicle glass breaking after being struck by gunfire.

An additional man had been struck by gunfire and was located in the parking lot. Both subjects were taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that one of the victims was in the parking lot behind an apartment building on Spanish Trail when he heard glass breaking and observed two unidentified males breaking out the rear bedroom window of an apartment. The victim shouted at them, at which time the suspects pulled out firearms and shot at him several times, striking the victim once and striking a vehicle several times.

No one was home at the burglarized residence at the time of this incident and there is no suspect information to release at this time.
