HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police are investigating a shooting in the 300 block of E. Mercury Boulevard that killed one man and left another injured Friday evening.
The shooting happened around 5:37 p.m.
When officers arrived on scene, they found two men who had been shot. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the second man is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police will not release the name of the man who died until his next of kin have been notified.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting happened in the road near E. Mercury Boulevard and Oakland Avenue.
The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
