25 firefighters battle blaze at Perquimans Co. mobile home

PERQUIMANS Co., N.C. - Three people have been forced out of their home after a fire in the 100 block of Hollowell Drive in Winfall Tuesday.

Dispatchers received a report of a structure fire in the area, and the first units arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the mobile home.

Firefighters with the Winfall Fire Department entered the mobile home through the front door and began attacking the fire. They were able to establish a water supply from a nearby hydrant and put out the fire within 20 minutes of arriving on scene.

The Winfall Fire Department responded with three fire apparatuses. The Hertford Fire Department provided assistance with two apparatuses, and the Belvidere Fire Department provided one apparatus.

There were approximately 25 firefighters on scene to help fight the blaze.

The three people who lived in the mobile home were not at home at the time of the fire. The local chapter of the American Red Cross is helping them with lodging.

The Perquimans County Sheriff's Office, Perquimans Emergency Medical Services and Perquimans County Emergency Management also provided assistance.

The Perquimans County Sheriff's Office and Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire, which is currently undetermined.
