3 adults displaced, 2 cats dead after Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Three adults were displaced after a fire caused significant damage to their Deep Creek home Wednesday morning.

According to the Chesapeake Fire Department, firefighters were called to the 2000 block of Powell Circle at 11:52am. Upon their arrival 2 minutes later, Engine Company 9 found heavy smoke coming from the structure.

Fire crews deployed hand lines and quickly brought the fire under control.

The home's residents evacuated before the fire department’s arrival. The owner’s two cats were located by firefighters, but did not survive.

The fire started in the kitchen and was ruled accidental. The family is making their own lodging arrangements.
