JAMES CITY Co., Va. - Three people, including a child, were taken to the hospital after a wrong-way crash in James City County Tuesday night.
Just after 9 p.m., officers responded to the 8800 block of Richmond Road after reports of a vehicle that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane.
A preliminary investigation revealed that this vehicle hit a westbound-traveling vehicle head on.
The driver of the vehicle that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane was rescued from the vehicle, and a helicopter took that person to VCU Medical Center. The driver's condition is unknown.
Police say a child in that same vehicle was in a car seat and was also taken to VCU Medical Center. Officials say the child had no obvious injuries.
Medics also took a third person to VCU Medical Center.
This crash is still under investigation.
