CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Five people have been forced out of their home after a house fire in the 1300 block of Sanderson Road in Chesapeake Friday afternoon.
The call came in at 1:13 p.m. The first arriving units arrived on scene seven minutes later to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the one-story home.
Units from the Virginia Beach Fire Department also responded to the scene to help Chesapeake firefighters battle the blaze.
In addition to the five people who were displaced, two dogs were rescued from the home; one was rescued by neighbors before firefighters arrived on scene and the other was rescued by the fire department, fire officials told News 3.
No one was at home when the fire started, and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials say the home suffered heavy fire damage. Firefighters brought the fire under control at 2:28 p.m.
The Fire Marshal's Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
