More than 600 cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported in Virginia as of Friday, according to the Virginia Department of Health's latest update.
The VDH reported 604 cases of the virus and 14 total deaths. Fifty-five of those cases are in James City County, while 29 are in Virginia Beach.
Thursday night, Southampton County's first virus case was reported. The patient resides in an assisted living home in Northampton County, North Carolina.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is expected to hold a press conference at 2 p.m. on efforts to control the virus' spread in Virginia.
