62-year-old man shot during confrontation while working on home in Hampton; dog also injured

HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police are investigating after a 62-year-old man was shot while working on a home in the area Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:19 p.m., dispatchers received a call in reference to shots fired in the 300 block of Webster Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man, who had been hit by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries, which were said to be non-life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was working on a home in the area when he was shot by a suspect during a confrontation.

Police say the suspect also shot the victim’s dog. The dog was taken to an emergency vet, and its condition is unknown at this time.

This investigation remains ongoing, and there is no suspect information at this time.
