64-year-old woman flown to Sentara Norfolk after being hit by car in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Va. - A woman was taken to the hospital after she was hit by a car near a local community college Friday morning.

Around 8:34 a.m., Virginia State Police were called to investigate crash involving a pedestrian on College Drive to Armory Drive. This happened next to Paul D. Camp Community College.

Preliminary investigations reveal that 68-year-old Phillip Rose was driving his 2017 Chevy Cruz down Armory Drive through the intersection of College Drive and entered the intersection with a green light when he hit a 64-year-old woman who was crossing the street.

The victim, Sharon Urquhart, was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, and no charges have been placed at this time.
