66-year-old man hit by car while crossing Newport News street

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A man was hit by a car while he was crossing Warwick Boulevard Monday afternoon.

Police responded to a cal for an auto-pedestrian crash in the northbound lanes of Warwick Boulevard at Harrison Road around 1:01 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the 66-year-old man suffering from injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police later said the man's injuries are serious, but are probably not life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation revealed that he was crossing the street when he was hit. He did not use a crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been issued in connection with this incident.

Warwick Boulevard has reopened after previously having been closed while police investigated.

The investigation remains ongoing.
