PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Sixty-nine-year-old Ivory Elizabeth Jackson Beler from Portsmouth is facing one count of theft from public money.

She was arrested back in September 2020, but federal investigators say she was taking benefits that weren't owed to her for several years.

Federal documents reveal that she used two different Social Security numbers to get disability benefits, retirement benefits and money from the retirement of a divorced spouse.

Investigators listed six different names she used in court documents and reported that she applied for nine different replacement cards over the course of almost four decades.

They said she received more than $43,000 in benefits she wasn’t entitled to.

Beler pleaded guilty and is waiting to be sentenced.

Attempts to reach her were unsuccessful, but her attorney said he was unable to comment at this time.
