VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - An abandoned dog was found on a Virginia Beach road earlier this month, and Virginia Beach Animal Control is asking for your help to find her owner.
Around 6:45 a.m. on June 17, 2020, dispatchers received a call from a citizen concerned about a dog that was found running stray in the 1300 block of Sir Richard Road. The caller was able to hold the dog, an adult female, for Animal Control officers.
The dog was found to be suffering from severe hair loss, had a skin infection and was emaciated.
After research, the Animal Control found the dog to be a West Highland Terrier and found out that she was rehomed about nine months ago. The dog is currently at the Animal Care and Adoption Center under veterinarian care.
Investigators are currently looking for the dog's owner.

The case remains under investigation.
