Bicyclist dies after being hit by vehicle in Virginia Beach, two suspects charged

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A bicyclist has died after being hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Indian Lakes Boulevard and Halifax Drive Thursday night.

Dispatchers received a call in reference to the crash in the area around 8:08 p.m.

Officers with the Virginia Beach Police Department arrived on scene and found the bicyclist, a man, who had been hit by the vehicle. Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded to help the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene with police.

This case is still very active.

Indian Lakes Boulevard is expected to be closed for the next several hours at Halifax Drive, Breezewood Arch and Settlers Park Drive while police investigate. You are asked to avoid the area.

This case remains under investigation by members of the VBPD's Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT).

The following two people have been arrested and charged with racing, causing serious injury or death for their involvement in this accident.

19-year-old Anthony Francis Tempesco of Virginia Beach. and 18-year-old Hallam Alexander Guiler of Virginia Beach. Both are being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Edward Charles Richardson of Virginia Beach.
