NORFOLK, Va. - A man riding a moped has died at the hospital after a hit-and-run at the intersection of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard and Briar Hill Road Thursday night.
Around 9:40 p.m., police responded to the 5600 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard at the intersection of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard and Briar Hill Road for a report of a man who had been hit by a vehicle.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was riding on a moped scooter when a vehicle hit him. Police initially said he was riding a bicycle.
The vehicle then fled the scene.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
He was identified later as 53-year-old James E. Davenport Jr.
