CHESAPEAKE, Va. - The Chesapeake Health Department announced that there will be free COVID-19 testing this Thursday, May 28.
The free testing will be at Chesapeake Square Mall at a walk-up tent in the former Sears parking lot.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., and you don’t have to be showing signs in order to get tested.
Event organizers say the tests will be a nasal swab and results will be ready and mailed to you within a week.
The department says there are 1,000 tests, so supplies are limited.
"Many people have the virus and don’t know they have the virus. They think it may be a cold or it’s allergy season or they just don’t know. Kimi Stevens with the CHD told News 3. "And if you do have it, and you’re asymptomatic, but you can accidentally spread it to a family member or someone who is immune compromised, you need to know that so you can self quarantine.”
