Chesapeake Police investigate after drive by shooting, crash

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Police are investigating after shots were fired at a home on Tuesday.

Officers got report of a motor vehicle crash and shots fired in the area of Poplar Hill Rd.

When they got there, officers found the suspect vehicle in the 3100 block of Jasmine Ct.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect/s shot, what is believed to be two rounds, at a dwelling located in the same location.

While leaving the scene the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence at a residence on Jasmine Court and proceeded through the backyard, clipping the home and then through the front fence, police said.

The suspect vehicle came to a rest in front of that house. The owner and driver of the vehicle remained at the scene while the other occupants of the vehicle ran from the scene towards Western Branch Blvd., according to police.

A perimeter was immediately established, and K-9 responded. An extensive track was conducted yielding no results.

The incident is currently under police investigation and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
