CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake Public Schools debunked an April Fools' Day rumor circulating on social media claiming current students will be required to repeat their grade due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a Facebook post, Chesapeake Public Schools said that students in good standing will advance to the next grade.

The social media rumor comes as schools comply with Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's order that all K-12 schools in the state remain closed for the remainder of the academic year.

Chesapeake Public Schools said that official and accurate information for students and families can be found here.
