Chesapeake woman arrested, charged with arson after house fire that left 3 people injured

CHESAPEAKE, Va. - The Chesapeake Fire Marshals arrested a 29-year-old woman on felony arson charges following a house fire that left three people injured.

According to Chesapeake firefighters, crews responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Gregg Street just before 2:00 a.m. Friday. The fire was called under control at 2:19 a.m. and three people were taken to a local emergency room with minor injuries.

Investigators were called to the scene and determined the fire to be arson.

Friday afternoon, Chesapeake Fire Marshals secured a warrant and arrested Chesapeake woman Tamika Lawson on charges of felony arson of an occupied dwelling. Additional charges could be added subject to a case review by the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.

Lawson is being held on no bond at the Chesapeake City Jail.
