NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University President Paul Trible announced Friday he will take a six-month sabbatical to take care of his wife, who is battling a rare autoimmune disease.

In a YouTube video to the Captains community, Trible said his time off will last from February 16 to August 16.

He said with the help of infusions and treatment, he is hopeful that his wife, Rosemary, will beat the disease.

In the meantime, Adelia Thompson will take his place as acting CEO of the university. Trible said the school is in good hands, with protocols in place to properly combat COVID-19 for the remainder of the school year.
